Drinking Iced Green Tea Can Make You More Agile And Independent In Your Golden Years

A quite large Japanese study has concluded that older adults who drink green tea (iced green tea or hot green tea) daily are more agile and independent than their those who do not drink green tea on a regular basis.

The study that was published in the American Journal Of Clinical Nutrition, reviewed the effect that regular green tea consumption had on disability and frailty in the later years of life (the golden years as we like to call them).

The results of the study showed that people who consumed the most green tea were less likely to have functional disabilities. Those disabilities included problems with daily activities like bathing or getting dressed. The study found that 13% of people who consumed less than a cup a day became functionally disabled and only 7% of people who consumed five or more cups a day were functionally disabled.

The study did not address the reasons why, however, one of the authors observed that a different study appeared to show that green tea extract boosted leg muscle strength in elderly women and he surmised that this could account for some of their own findings.
